Bandwidth :
Sets the bandwidth on a serial interface. [TOC]
Banner :
Creates a banner for users who log in to the router. [TOC]
clear counters :
Clears the statistics from an interface. [TOC]
Clock rate :
Provides clocking on a serial DCE interface. [TOC]
Config memory :
Copies the startup-config to running-config. [TOC]
Config network :
Copies a configuration stored on a TFTP host to running-config. [TOC]
Config terminal :
Puts you in global configuration mode and changes the running-config. [TOC]
Copy run start :
Short for copy running-config startup-config. Places a configuration into NVRAM. [TOC]
Ctrl+A :
Moves your cursor to the beginning of the line. [TOC]
Ctrl+D :
Deletes a single character. [TOC]
Ctrl+E :
Moves your cursor to the end of the line. [TOC]
Ctrl+F :
Moves forward one character. [TOC]
Ctrl+R :
Redisplays a line. [TOC]
Ctrl+U :
Erases a line. [TOC]
Ctrl+W :
Erases a word. [TOC]
Ctrl+Z :
Ends configuration mode and returns to EXEC. [TOC]
Description :
Sets a description on an interface. [TOC]
Disable :
Takes you from priviledge mode back to user mode. [TOC]
Enable :
Puts you into priviledge mode. [TOC]
Enable password :
Sets the unencrypted enable password. [TOC]
Enable secret :
Sets the encrypted enable secret password. Supersedes the enable password if set. [TOC]
Erase startup :
Deletes the startup-config. [TOC]
ESC+B :
Moves back one word. [TOC]
ESC+F :
Moves forward one word. [TOC]
Exec-timeout :
Sets the timeout in seconds and minutes for the consol connection. [TOC]
Hostname :
Sets the name of a router. [TOC]
Interface :
Puts you in interface configuration mode. Also used with show commands. [TOC]
Interface fastethernet 0/0 :
Puts you in interface configuration mode for a FastEthernet port.
Also used with show commands. [TOC]
Interface fastethernet 0/0.1 :
Creates a subinterface. [TOC]
Interface serial 5 :
Puts you in interface configuration mode for serial 5 and can be used for show commands. [TOC]
Ip address :
Sets an IP address on an interface. [TOC]
Line :
Puts you in configuration mode to change or set your user mode passwords. [TOC]
Line aux :
Puts you in the auxiliary interface configuration mode. [TOC]
Line consol 0 :
Puts you in configuration mode. [TOC]
Line vty :
Puts you in VTY (telnet) interface configuration mode. [TOC]
Logging synchronous :
Stops console messages from overwriting you command-line input. [TOC]
Logout :
Logs you out of your console session. [TOC]
Media-type :
Sets the hardware media type on an interface. [TOC]
No shutdown :
Turns on an interface. [TOC]
Ping :
Tests IP connectivity. [TOC]
Router rip :
Puts you in router rip configuration mode. [TOC]
Service password-encryption :
Encrypts the user mode and enable passwords. [TOC]
Show controllers s 0 :
Shows the DTE and DCE status of an interface. [TOC]
Show history :
Shows you the last 10 commands entered by default. [TOC]
Show interface s0 :
Shows the statistics of interface serial 0. [TOC]
Show run :
Short for show running-config. Shows the configuration currently running on the router. [TOC]
Show start :
Short for show startup-config. Shows the backup configuration stored in NVRAM. [TOC]
Show terminal :
Shows you your configured history size. [TOC]
Show version :
Shows you statistics of the router. [TOC]
Shutdown :
Puts an interface in administratively-down mode. [TOC]
Tab :
Finishes typing a command for you. [TOC]
Telnet :
Tests IP connectivity and configures a router. [TOC]
Terminal history size :
Changes your history size from the default of 10 up to 256. [TOC]
